Great Event, Terrible Poster

X – UFC

UFC 316 is a great card with a not so great poster, but we’re used to it.

The UFC 316 poster is out and boy is it something.

The UFC has been on quite the run of uninspired posters. We’ve gotten used to little more than the background gradient changing and some creative text placement, but the poster for Newark, New Jersey’s UFC 316 card on June 7th, 2025 featuring Merab Dvalishvili vs. Sean O’Malley for the bantamweight title and Juliana Pena vs. Kayla Harrison for the women’s bantamweight title really takes the cake.

For this one we’ve got all four headliners featured on the card, staring you right in the eye. Merab’s the only one looking good here. O’Malley looks about as confident here as many fans are going into this rematch. Juliana Pena is doing her best ‘Blue Steel’ impression, and Kayla Harrison looks like a Karen you just stole the last parking spot from at the grocery store.

Lazily slapped over the top and bottom are the UFC 316 card identifier and date. The worst sin on this poster? We can’t decide if it’s Pena’s constipated look or Kayla Harrison’s face being so uncentered in her square, to the point that her chin is covered by the date and sponsor block.

If this were a graphic design class at the local community college we’d give this a D+ and say turn down the Instagram filters. Is this event supposed to feel like it’s being held in a dank sewer pipe because that’s the vibe it’s giving off.

“What does the UFC PR team actually do?” one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote.

“Pena’s sucking on a lemon,” another tweeted.

At least the card is pretty great. In addition to the two title fights we got Vicente Luque vs. Kevin Holland, Kelvin Gastelum vs. Joe Pyfer, and Marlon Vera vs. Mario Bautista. Wang Cong and Johnny Walker round off the notables. So just get yourself hyped up off that, because that’s what we got, folks. See you in Newark!
