When the curtain closed on UFC Freedom 250, a fight between Ciryl Gane and Tom Aspinall was verbally agreed, with Paris in September being earmarked for their potential rematch. However, an aging Alex Pereira doesn’t want to wait that long to get back into the cage, publicly announcing his plans during a UFC Q&A a few days ago.
“Well, I don’t know what’s going to happen [in that fight], or how long it will take for that fight to happen,” Pereira said in response to a fan’s question about fighting the winner of Aspinall vs. Gane.
War between England and France is a tale as long as time. The storyline has been built as one of the most anticipated heavyweight clashes in recent history, where the returning British champion will collide with a former challenger whose game plan he struggled to navigate last time out.
If all goes to plan for the South American, he will be stepping in to face the winner of Aspinall vs. Gane. However, not willing to wait that long, Pereira wants a tune-up fight ahead of a potential title shot next year.
“I definitely want to fight before then, and after that, I definitely want to fight for the title.”
