Many questions were raised once news broke of Henry Cejudo headlining a Misfits Boxing event. He answered every single one of them.
‘Triple C’ has won everywhere he’s been throughout his combat sports journey. An elite wrestler on the mats earned him an Olympic gold medal. He translated that into MMA, evolving his striking game and becoming a true force in the sport. Clearly a quick learner, he used those skills to become one of the few simultaneous two-weight world champions in the UFC. A short stint in RAF proved to be successful, but his attention is now on Misfits Boxing. And throughout all the drama with his opponent change, Cejudo delivered a masterful performance to show he’s a real threat in his new company.
Coming up against Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton, a young athlete best known for his acting in hit shows Euphoria and The Umbrella Academy, Henry Cejudo had a lot to prove. Walton is a seasoned amateur boxer, having reportedly competed in 85 bouts before transitioning to professional boxing. Walton promised to be a much bigger task for Cejudo than his original opponent, Nurideen Shabazz.
While he did put up a fight, Walton looked levels below Cejudo, who showcased a masterful performance. Power shots, great footwork, and head movement were on display for Cejudo, who walked away with the decision victory.
Official result: Henry Cejudo def. Javon Walton via split decision (39-37, 37-39, 39-37)
