Jon Jones trolls Tom Aspinall after anticlimactic end to UFC 321

In a moment of misfortune for Tom Aspinall, long-term rival Jon Jones wasted no time in firing shots at his old nemesis.

The Brit has established himself as one of the greats in today’s mixed martial arts, and wanted to prove that with a win over Jones. Though that fight never came to fruition, the pair have been in a constant back-and-forth, hurling insults at each other at every opportunity.

That grudge worsened when Tom Aspinall suffered an accidental eye poke in his main event clash at UFC 321, forcing the bout to end prematurely. As was the case for many spectators, Jon Jones wasn’t best pleased with Aspinall’s reaction to the illegal maneuver.

Continuing their feud, Jones updated his duck profile picture on social media, a photo that stemmed from his rivalry with Aspinall. The Albuquerque native added an eye patch to the duck, mocking the 32-year-old.

Ahead of UFC 321, the consensus was that Jon Jones avoided fighting Tom Aspinall to preserve his essentially unbeaten record.

‘Bones’ retired instead of accepting a fight against the now undisputed heavyweight champion, despite reportedly being offered a staggering amount of money.

After the fallout of Saturday night, the debates are much more mixed regarding a fantasy matchup between Jones and Aspinall.

While the rumors of the two fighting one day persist, Jon Jones still isn’t sold on the idea. Posting on X following the events in Abu Dhabi, Jones hinted at who his next opponent could be.

“Alex [Pereira], I’d be down to bring the highest skill level to the White House,” Jones said, calling out Pereira over Aspinall.

Jones and Pereira are a part of the exclusive list of two-division champions in UFC history. In a more respectful manner than his feud with Aspinall, Jones has been linked to a potential clash with Pereira for years.

With ‘Poatan’s recent title victory and Aspinall’s less-than-impressive outing this weekend, fans favor a Jones vs. Pereira matchup.

“I appreciate the respect you showed,” Jones continued. “Let’s dance.”
