Former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington has never been a fan of LeBron James. On several occasions Covington has targeted the NBA star in insults and criticism during interviews and press conferences. On Wednesday, during the UFC on ESPN 63 Media Day, Covington again took aim at James of alleged ties to Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Before taking questions, Covington sat down, picked up the microphone and immediately addressed the basketball legend.
“I’m going to start this off because I’m the man of the hour, the man of the show. I want to ask LeBron what does he mean by, ‘There’s no party like a Diddy party?’ I truly want to know,” Covington said.
“Not only that, LeBron, how many Diddy parties have you actually been to? I’m really curious to know,” Covington continued. “Is that the reason you left social media, because of all the backlash you were getting for going to so many Diddy parties? It’s just pathetic.
“People think this guy is a role model. He wants to defund the police, the most patriot people in America serving and protecting our country. LeBron, you’re a f**king scumbag and I hope you get locked up in the same cell as Diddy.”
Combs was arrested and indicted in the Southern District of New York on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking by force, and transportation for purposes of prostitution in September. He remains in federal custody awaiting trial.
Covington headlines Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 63 fight card at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. against the rising Joaquin Buckley. The event will mark the fourth time the fight promotion has held an event in the Gulf Coast city.
