Barnett vs. Markes Josh Barnett vs. Ronny Markes | Bellator MMA

Bellator MMA returns to Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii to “Salute the Troops” on Dec. 20, 2019, with another card free for service personnel and their families. It goes down the night before Flyweight champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane (10-0) makes her next title defense against Kate Jackson (11-3-1) in the exact same venue.

Only one fight has been announced for this upcoming card so far but it’s a doozy. Former UFC Heavyweight champion “The Warmaster” Josh Barnett (35-8) will make his promotional debut three years after defeating Andrei Arlovski in his final fight for Dana White.

The opponent they have lined up for the 41 year-old submission specialist is equally legendary. Ronny Markes (19-7) has competed all around the world in Shooto: Brazil, UFC, World Series of Fighting, and King of the Cage, the latter of which saw him win a Super Heavyweight Title. He’ll drop back down to the 265-pound limit for this bout.
