MMA is dangerous enough without something like this happening.
Two fighters fell out of the cage through the apparently unreinforced door onto the floor below at a regional card in Massachusetts on Saturday night. The scary video was shared on Instagram by UFC veteran Joe Lauzon, whose student competed in the fight.
The competitors were James Collins and Marty Navis, two amateurs making their debuts (h/t @AdelBrkic) at Cage Titans 27 in Plymouth, Mass., according to Tapology. The bout was reportedly ruled a no contest. Collins, who trains under Lauzon, was OK, Lauzon wrote. But he said Navis had to be taken to the hospital with a rib injury.
Cage Titans posted Friday on Instagram that it would be using a brand new cage for this event.
We have been keeping it under wraps but are now proud and excited to let everyone know that we bought a brand new cage for Cage Titans. We had an amazing 2015, selling out all 5 shows, and wanted a way to say thank you to everyone involved, especially the fighters, by investing back into our product. In the end, we couldn’t think of any better way than getting this new, top of the line “stage” for all the fighters to showcase their talents in and are looking forward to breaking it in tomorrow night!
